Nero BackItUp

Two tasks can be performed with Nero BackItUp. As the name suggests, you can use this application to back up your important files; they can be backed up to a local drive, an external drive, a network drive, to the cloud, or to an optical disk. On top of that, Nero BackItUp can be used to sync folders; any two folders you want.

The system requirements for running Nero BackItUp are: 2Ghz processor or better, 1GB of RAM memory or more, 1GB hard disk space, Windows operating system (32 or 64-bit edition; anything from XP SP3 up to Windows 8.1).
Please note that the setup wizard that will help you install Nero BackItUp will ask to install the AVG Security Toolbar. Make sure to opt out if you don’t want any toolbar.

A large, round, green button is displayed front and center on the application’s interface. Click it and a wizard will help you create a backup task. You will have to go through a simple 3-step process:
Step 1 – choose the folders you want to be backed up.
Step 2 – choose where to back up the folders. You can back them up on a local drive, an external drive, an optical disk, to a network location, or in the cloud. Sign up for a free Nero BackItUp plan and you get 5GB of online storage space.
Step 3 – give the backup job a name, set up a schedule (manual backup, monthly, weekly, daily, and continuous backup), choose if you want the backups to be compressed and if you want them to be encrypted.

In the upper right hand corner of the application’s interface you will see the Tools menu. From said menu you can access Nero BackItUp’s sync functionality. If creating a backup job is a simple 3-step process, creating a sync job is an even simpler 2-step process:
Step 1 – pick a pair of folders and choose if you want them to be synced or if you want data to be copied from left to right.
Step 2 – give the sync job a name and set up a schedule (manual, monthly, weekly, daily, continuous sync).
